McAlpine has been qualified for three years
as a solicitor specialising in civil law, with
a particular interest in family law matters
such as divorce, separation, parental rights,
representation at children's hearings and referrals
from the hearings to the court.
He
has experience in disputes relating to the care
and welfare of children, in situations where
the argument is between the parents of the child
but also where the Social Work department of
the local authority has taken a view which is
not accepted by the family of the child.
